The Ohio State University Marching Band wowed audiences (perhaps besting nearby Ohio University’s recent “Gangnam Style” show) with YouTube-conquering video game tribute halftime show last Saturday in Columbus. The show featured elaborate marching schemes forming pixel-perfect nods to Mario Bros., Tetris, Zelda and more.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the show required 14 hours of practice time for the band’s 225 members, though the idea itself was five years in the making. Perhaps the highest compliment came when the band received a congratulatory note from the band director of archrival Michigan University.
