Richard Egarr Leads Juilliard415 in Works by Handel and Avison/Scarlatti

Juilliard Historical Performance’s 10th anniversary season opens with artist in residence and faculty member Richard Egarr.

Egarr is music director of the Academy of Ancient Music and music director designate of the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and will lead Juilliard415 in celebratory works by Handel and Avison/Scarlatti on Friday, October 11, 2019, at 7:30pm in Juilliard’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater.  

The program features Handel’s Concerto grosso in B-flat Major, Op. 3, No. 2; Handel’s Concerto grosso in A Minor, Op. 6. No. 4; Avison/Scarlatti’s Concerto grosso in A Major, No. 1; Handel’s Concerto grosso in G Major, Op. 6, No. 1; Handel’s Organ Concerto in F Major, Op. 4, No. 5; Handel’s Concerto grosso in G Major, Op. 3, No. 3; and Avison/Scarlatti’s Concerto grosso in D Minor, No. 3.

Tickets at $20 ($10 for students with a valid ID) are available at juilliard.edu/calendar. 

Later this semester, in celebration of Juilliard Historical Performance’s 10th season and Les Arts Florissants’ 40th season, Juilliard415 joins forces with Les Arts Florissants at the Philharmonie de Paris for two festive programs, led by William Christie, Juilliard Historical Performance artist in residence, and conductor Paul Agnew. The programs take place on December 21 and 22.
