Come Together for The NAMM Foundation’s Grand Rally for Music Education 2017

The Second Annual Grand Rally for Music Education features violin virtuosos Black Violin in collaboration with Yamaha, along with student performances by The Perfect Fourth Quartet, a Sphinx Organization ensemble and recipients of the 2016 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award presented by First Lady Michelle Obama. This signature NAMM Foundation event includes exciting musical performances and “inside the practice room” conversations with iconic performing artists.

The NAMM Foundation’s cornerstone music education event at The 2017 NAMM Show is the Grand Rally for Music Education. The event salutes and celebrates music education and is open to all and will take place at The NAMM Show on Saturday, January 21, 9:30 a.m., in The NAMM Foundation Lounge in the Anaheim Hilton. NAMM members, music educators, college students and faculty are welcome to come together in support of music education.

“Our message is that you can wear fitted caps and jeans with holes in them and be cool, but play violin at a very high level and still get a scholarship to college,” said Kev Marcus from Black Violin, in a recent Talking Up Music Education podcast. “When you’re playing music, make it yours.”

Hosted by executive director of The NAMM Foundation Mary Luehrsen, the Grand Rally will be webcast LIVE on namm.org and will also be available as a special Talking Up Music Education podcast episode.

Last year’s Grand Rally for Music Education was an event for the record books. The crowd laughed and applauded multi-Grammy winning artist, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and was inspired by the internationally-acclaimed Canadian Brass.

Though Yankovic was all jokes, he ended the rally on a serious note. His advice to college students, “If you make a living doing something you’re passionate about, you’re already successful.”

To attend The Grand Rally for Music Education, register today for Music Education Days or the GenNext program. NAMM Members are encouraged to attend, and registration is not required.
