Thirty-two new string orchestra pieces from favorite veteran composers as well as talented, up-and-coming composers make up Excelcia Music Publishing’s 2020 String Orchestra music release.

Recognizing these challenging times for music education with school closures and remote learning, the publisher has released an innovative digital catalog for 2020 String Orchestra music, complete with pop-up Score Videos and composer insights as well as free professional recordings on all major streaming platforms. These tools provide unprecedented assistance to educators for imagining the future and planning for when their ensembles can come back together.

“We have tremendous respect and admiration for the music educators who are continuing the daily critical task of engaging and educating music students in these unusual times,” said Excelcia Music Publishing president, Larry Clark. “Educators will love the outstanding and high-quality collection of new string orchestra pieces we are presenting this year.  I hope our cutting-edge digital catalog and accessible professional recordings provide a window for directors to easily experience and choose our new music as they plan for the future.”

Following its successful 2019 release, the publisher’s 2020 String Orchestra release includes pieces from composers Tyler Arcari, Shirl Jae Atwell, Carol Brittin Chambers, Larry Clark, David Hinds, Michael J. Miller, Yukiko Nishimura, Sean O’Loughlin, John M. Pasternak, Matthew R. Putnam, Steven L. Rosenhaus, Ruth Elaine Schram, Peter Sciaino, Alan Lee Silva, Carl Strommen, George Sweet, Peter Terry, Bruce W. Tippette and Bud Woodruff.

Each score, and its accompanying parts, are meticulously-edited and beautifully set for ease of reading and include unique features to help facilitate efficient rehearsals. Published in Excelcia Music Publishing’s signature color-coded series, the string orchestra music follows the strict and consistent six-part grading system developed by the powerhouse editorial team of Clark and Arcari: Prelude (grade .5), Da Capo (grade 1), Harmony (grade 1.5), Intermezzo (grade 2 to 2.5), Rhapsody (grade 3 to 3.5) and Maestro (grade 4 and up).  The professional recordings of each piece, by The Trade Winds Recording Ensemble, conducted by Daniel Schmidt, are available on all streaming platforms and can be used as a tool with students for remote learning and in the classroom.
