University of Indianapolis faculty and staff recently shared their expertise with numerous local and national news outlets, according to a report from UIndy 360.
Dr. John Somers, associate professor and director of graduate programs in the School of Education, discussed UIndy’s new STEM2Teach program on WTHR, the Indiana Business Journal, and the Daily Journal, highlighting its role in addressing Indiana’s STEM teacher shortage. Dr. Isabell Mills, an assistant professor of kinesiology, published research in The Sport Journal examining basketball’s role in Black communities, focusing on fan engagement and community development. Monique Kerr, program director of the Central Indiana Area Health Education Center (CIAHEC), spoke with WISH-TV about the goals of the Young Achievers Academy, which provides opportunities for high school students to explore medical careers.
Other faculty contributions included Dr. Craig Seidelson explaining financial hacks to WalletHub, Dr. Tanuja Singh discussing UIndy’s athletic conference transition with WTHR and the Indianapolis Star, and Ted Frantz participating in a panel discussion on executive power featured in the Legal History Blog. Ryan Behan, an associate professor, was featured as a pianist in a concert in the Greencastle Banner Graphic. Michelle Itczak and Dr. Sarah Wareham were highlighted for their partnership with Noble, providing art therapy services, as reported by Noble’s blog and WISH-TV. Dr. Jon Noworyta led a patriotic concert for Community Connect Media, and Dr. Elizabeth Moore contributed to a research article published in Taylor & Francis Online.
Political science professors Dr. Gregory Shufeldt and Dr. Laura Merrifield Wilson also provided commentary to various news outlets, including the Indiana Capital Chronicle and WXIN, on topics such as election integrity and the secretary of state race. Dr. Matt Will discussed financial topics on WIBC, and Lauri Shillings, a Libertarian candidate, was profiled in several Indiana newspapers.
