The City Chamber Orchestra will launch its inaugural season in Indianapolis with a debut concert dedicated to funding classical music programs for local children, wishtv.com reported. Artistic Director Mikkel Daniels stated the 25-piece ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at Indiana Landmarks. Proceeds from the event will support the organization's foundation, which provides instruments and workshops to students.
Daniels, an Indiana University graduate who returned to the state after working in New York City, founded the group to offer children an alternative to digital devices and social media. She emphasized that the initiative seeks to remove financial barriers preventing families from accessing private lessons or purchasing instruments. According to Daniels, the goal is not necessarily to train every participant as a professional musician but to ensure students have lifelong access to musical opportunities they might otherwise miss.
